During the exiting meeting co-organized by the University of Freiburg, USSE and IEFC in October at Bilbao for the world congress of cultivated forest, we have been able to provide a few answers to the following questions:

• What ecosystem services do forest plantations deliver?
• What can forest plantations do for biodiversity?
• What is the role of forest plantations in the carbon cycle?
• What are the effects of forest plantations on hydrological cycles?
